CSAN is the social action arm of the RC Church and an agency of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales. We work to create a society where every person is valuable and valued. With 13 million people living in poverty and 1 million using food banks to survive difficult times, the need to help people to live full lives with their human dignity intact remains pressing.
We embrace 43 member charities and Caritas Dioceses who work in solidarity in the Caritas Social Action Network. Members such as Nugent Care in Liverpool, SVP, Brentwood Children’s Society, Jesuit Refugee Services (JRS) and Caritas Westminster, provide services and comfort to children and families, older people, disabled people, prisoners, refugees and homeless people. This expertise and experience at the ‘grass-roots’ underpins the advocacy and social justice work of CSAN.
Each year nearly 100 people from the CSAN charities meet some 40 parliamentarians at our Parliamentary Reception to discuss the impact of legislation affecting their clients. The discussions and advocacy continue through the year on such issues as migration, welfare changes and criminal justice. So we extend the hand of practical support, and raise our voice for justice and equality. Thank you for your support and prayers.
CSAN is also a member of Caritas Internationalis.
