Remember the Church in your Will
The money given in the regular collection often covers only the basic running costs of your parish. Remembering the Church in your Will is a wonderful way to give thanks for your faith and support the future work of the Church locally, in the Diocese or nationally.
How your legacy gift to the Church can make a difference
The Catholic Church in England and Wales sponsors a number of important national projects, for example: the promotion of vocations to the priesthood and religious life; the Parliamentary Internship Project, giving young people an insight into the workings of Parliament and our Catholic agencies; prison ministry including Catholic chaplaincy and encouraging prisoners in their faith; and helping to address global issues, such as migration and modern slavery. A legacy to the Catholic Church nationally can help this vital work continue and create more opportunities for evangelism and outreach.
A legacy gift to your parish church could pay for:
- Structural improvements, to make existing buildings more welcoming and accessible
- New facilities for the parish and the local community
- Ministry to young people, the elderly or other groups
- Welfare and mission programmes to change lives in the community
You may choose to leave a gift to the diocese, so that they can put it to use where the need is greatest in your diocese, for example: supporting poorer parishes; funding regional projects for young people; training new priests, deacons and laity; supporting retired priests or maintaining the Cathedral.
For more information about leaving a Church legacy, please contact your parish priest or Diocesan office.
